ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Stanislaus State tennis team was finally able to begin the Spring season and the Warriors came out with a victory. Stan State beat Western New Mexico University in their first match at the Trailblazer Invite at Dixie State, 6-1.
 
After several rained outs this season, the women were able to travel to Utah and win their first match. The Warriors won five out of six singles matches and two doubles contest.

At No. 1 doubles, Cassidy Ferrell and Maria Ochoa defeated Julia Tozzi and Camila Gomez, 6-3. Taylor Galya and Amila Gogalija took the win over Karina Kolovos and Julia Terrazas, 6-0. New to Division II, teams now gain one team point by winning at least two of three doubles matches.
 
No. 45 ranked Cassidy Ferrell had her first Spring win, by beating Tozzi, 6-1, 3-6, 6-0. Amila Gogalija won at No. 3 singles with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Karina Kolovos. Warriors Kayla Nguyen, Sylvana Talamantes and Taylor Galya also defeated Mustangs Friday afternoon.

It was WNMU's first loss this season.
