Stan State comes out strong against San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO — The Warriors showed their game against the Coyotes of San Bernardino defeating them 65-52. The Warriors will gain another win under their belts making them 8-16 overall and 7-14 in the CCAA. The loss will make the Coyotes 10-15 overall and 9-12 in the CCAA. 

This is the Warriors first win against the Coyotes since February 3, 2018. The last time the two teams met the Warriors lost 52-57. They now have redeemed themselves after losing to the Broncos on Thursday as well. 

Senior, Caprina Pipion, came out strong Saturday afternoon shooting a total of 15 points, her season best. Kyanna Davis played another incredible game with 13 points and ten rebounds. Davis was one rebound short of her season best (11) which she had on Thursday's game against Cal Poly Pomona. 

Angelica Baylon got back in her double-digit scoring with ten points. She also led in assists with three along with Samantha Rudd. Kyanna Davis also had four steals.

The Warriors scored an incredible 21 points coming out of the first over the Coyote's 14 points. Stan State led in scoring coming out of each quarter, holding the Coyotes to no lead at any point in the game. 

The Warriors scored 28 points in the paint and 22 points off San Bernardino's turnovers. They shot 76.5 percent for free throws and 40 percent from the three point arc. Stan State visited the free throw line more often than the Coyotes as well. The Warriors were at the line for 17 shots when the Coyotes visited only six times. 

Kayla Bibb was the leading offensive player for the Coyotes with 19 points. She also had ten rebounds. Behind Bobs was Courtney Coleman with 12 points. 

Coming off a win, the Warriors will return home in their last games of the season to take on Cal State LA on Thursday, February 28 at 5:30 p.m and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m.
