TURLOCK – The Warrior women's basketball team won its second straight game Thursday night over the Cal State L.A. Golden Eagles, 66-54. The women remains in the hunt of making the CCAA tournament contingent on one more win in their last game Saturday. This win got them one step closer.
Stan State is now 8-17 in the CCAA and 9-16 overall. Cal State Los Angeles falls 6-16 in conference and 9-17 overall.
The Warriors had control of the entire game with their largest lead being 20 in the third quarter. Stan State scored an incredible 40 points in the paint and got 16 off turnovers. The women only gave away four points to the Golden Eagles off turnovers and CSULA also only scored 26 points in the paint.
Four Warriors were in the double digits with scoring Thursday night.
Kyanna Davis led the offense with 19 points. Davis was a leader in rebounds with seven and she also had two steals.
Kaleigh Taylor scored 15 points and also had seven rebounds.
Angelica Baylon had a great game with 11 points, four assists, four blocks, and two steals.
Brittney Livingston was Warriors No. 4 in the double digits with 14 points. Livingston had a good defensive game with five steals.
Stanislaus State came out strong right out the gates with a lead of 12 by the end of the first half and continued their lead with 18 going into the fourth quarter. They made 28 field goals which is their season record for in conference play.
Cal State L.A. had two players lead the offense, Christine Delapina scored 15 and Chiderah Uzowuru scored 13. Uzowuru had six rebounds. Delapina also led in assists with seven total.
With their playoff dreams still alive, the women will face Cal State Dominguez Hills in their last season game at the Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. It will be Senior Night on Saturday as
Caprina Pipion and
Samantha Rudd play in their final regular season home game.
