TURLOCK – After a schedule change turning the Warriors into the home team, the Warrior Softball team beat Cal State East Bay in two-straight games Thursday evening, showing their home-field advantage. Earlier in the day, Stan State beat East Bay 7-1 and later beat the Pioneers 1-0.
The Warriors are back on the board in the CCAA with three wins under their belts. They are 6-13 overall. Cal State East Bay is now 2-9 overall and 0-6 in conference.
Lia Tom lifted the Warriors in the pitching dual nightcap with a walk-off double scoring
Deja Guzman from second. The Warriors had been limited by CSUEB pitcher Abby Greer, who had a no-hitter into the fifth and took a one-hitter into the seventh.
Megan Stacy broke-up the no-no in the fifth and the Warriors had three hits in the seventh for the win.
Stanislaus State had excellent pitching with
Kyndra Marzorini earning another win in game one and Stacy earning her first win of the season. Marzorini has earned four wins so far this season and shows her consistency in each game. Marzorini continues to hold the highest number of strikeouts in the CCAA with 60.
Stacy pitched a full game with only allowing three hits and walked two. She struck out one. Marzorini also pitched a full seven only allowing one run, three hits and shut out four.
In game one, the Warriors scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings.
Maya Yoshiura hit her third homerun of the season in the bottom of the third. She went 2-for-3 with a double and drove in two runs.
Aliyah Garvin went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Alexus Martinez went 3-for-3 in the leadoff spot and scored twice.
Cal State East Bay was held to just one run on Thursday. Emilie Portesi scored in game one. Bailee Aguigui went 1-1 and stole one base in game two.
The series, originally scheduled in Hayward, was shifted to Turlock due to unplayable fields at Cal State East Bay.
The teams will be back tomorrow to finish out the four-game series in another doubleheader starting at noon.
