Tom's grand slam highlights twinbill, series sweep over Pioneers

TURLOCK – Lia Tom's grand slam highlight's the day's events as Stanislaus State swept Friday's doubleheader of Cal State East Bay. The wins also completed the series sweep over the Pioneers. 

This was the Warriors first full series sweep of the season. Over the entirety of the series, the Pioneers only scored three runs.
 
In Friday's twinbill, the Warriors beat East Bay 3-0 and then 7-1 in the nightcap. Cal State East Bay is now 2-11 overall and 0-8 in the CCAA. Stanislaus State succeeds to 8-13 overall and 5-11 in conference.
 
It was another great day for pitching for the Warriors with Kylie Ragsdale earning her second win and Kyndra Marzorini being able to even out her record (5-5) with a win in game two. Each pitcher went the distance. Ragsdale shutout the Pioneers and only allowed four hits and walked two. Marzorini held East Bay to only one run once again and only gave away five hits.
 
Tom had an incredible season-breaking day going 3-for-6 in the doubleheader. Along with her grand slam earning her four RBI, she hit a double as well. 
 
Alexus Martinez went 3-f0r-5 on Friday and scored four runs for her team. She also drove in a run and stole two bases. Deja Guzman went 4-for-6 and Joerdan Lovell went 2-for-5 on the day.
 
Jocelyn Baldon scored the solo run for the Pioneers in game two on Friday. Abby Greer took the loss after pitching 3 1/3 innings falling to 1-6. In game one, Abby Burkholder took the loss after pitching six making her record 0-2.
 
Cal State East Bay had a total of nine hits, three errors, and one run.
 
The Warriors will be back home on Friday, March 8, to take on Academy of Art in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
