LAS VEGAS, Nev. –After a cancelled schedule on Saturday due to weather, the Warriors took on Central Washington on Sunday, losing 6-1. Stan State ended the MSUB Desert Stinger with a 1-2 record after a win to Academy of Art and a loss to Saint Martin's on Friday.
Both Central Washington and Stan State had rough games with no score in the first three innings. The Warriors and the Wildcats both would go on to score one in the fourth inning and were tied until CWU took off in the bottom of the fifth with five runs.
Aliyah Garvin went 2-3 scoring the single run for the Warriors after
Cassandra Wenn doubled to left field.
Cassandra Wenn would earn one RBI after her double.
Three pitchers played for the Warriors with
Megan Stacy pitching three innings, striking out two and walking one.
Kylie Ragsdale took the loss against the Wildcats pitching 1.1 innings.
Kyndra Marzorini would close out the game pitching 1.2 innings, striking out four.
The Warriors were in a tough spot when the Wildcats scored five times in the fifth. Rachael Johnson scored after Alycia Bannan was walked on bases loaded. Theresa Moyle tripled down the right field line and scored on a muffed throw. Sydney Williams, Katie Kastning and Savannah Egbert would also score on this play.
The Warriors home-opener will be on Wednesday, February 6, when the women will take on Holy Names University at 6 p.m. to debut at the Warrior Softball Field.
