TURLOCK—Stanislaus State hosted the Lumberjacks of Humboldt State in their Homecoming game Thursday falling short 58-65. Despite playing one of the top ranked teams in the conference, Stan State never gave up on their game.
The Warriors now stand 5-12 in conference and 6-15 overall. The Jacks are 13-6 overall and 11-5 in conference.
Several Warriors stood out with two shooting double digits and many having strong defensive games as well.
Kaleigh Taylor played an impressive game shooting an incredible and new high of 21 points. This was not her only new record but she also made ten field goals, another season high.
Angelica Baylon scored 14 points and was great on the defense. She got her first block of the season and had two season highs with seven rebounds and eight assists. Baylon also led with four steals.

Caitlin Keding with six rebounds.
The women scored 30 points in the paint and stole 12 off turnovers. Humboldt was evenly matched on those two areas and also scored 30 points in the paint and 12 off turnovers. Stan State went 13 for 17 in free throws having a 76.5 free throw percentage. They went 20-53 in field goals and struggled at the three-point arc only making five Thursday night.
Alexia Thrower led the jacks in a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Isamar Conde scored 18 points. Tyra Turner played a great game for Humboldt with 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals. Madeline Hatch also had three steals.
Stan State and Humboldt both came out of the first with 17 points and Stan State came out of the half leading 28-25. The Warriors struggled in the third quarter scoring only ten points to Humboldt's 25 but they were able to redeem themselves in the fourth scoring 20.
The third quarter was where the Warriors fell behind and this was a cause for their loss short of seven points. The Jacks led by 14 in the third but the Warriors didn't let this get to them and were back in the head to head battle in no time.
Despite the loss, the Warriors will be back to take on the Wildcats of Chico State, Saturday, February 9, at 5:30 p.m.
