TURLOCK — The Warriors got a glimpse of what they are up against offensively in the CCAA as Cal State Monterey Bay powered past Stanislaus State, 4-2 and 7-0, in Friday's doubleheader.
On an early and cold morning, the Warriors' bats were the ones frigid as they managed a total of six hits in the twinbill.
Maya Yoshiura had two hits to lead Stanislaus State (2-4, 0-2 CCAA).
Cal State Monterey Bay shown it can hit. The Otters scattered 24 hits with a total of seven extra-base hits (six doubles and a homer).
Yoshiura drove in two runs in the opener. In the fourth her grounder scored
Kayla Fajardo who walked, advanced on a passed ball and a grounder before scoring on Yoshiura's ground-out to second. Yoshiura also platted
Aliyah Garvin with a solid single to left-center in the sixth.
CSUMB pitchers Hayley Fein and Celeste Villagrana both went seven innings for the two wins in the circle. Korina Krueg had four hits in the doubleheader and Courtney Hennings homered in the first game.
The start time of doubleheader was moved up six hours from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. to get the games in ahead of rain. Saturday's games are scheduled for a Noon start, weather and field condition permitting.
