Stanislaus State Upsets No. 5 Concordia Irvine

 
TURLOCK—The Warriors beat the No.5 NCAA Division ll Eagles of Concordia-Irvine in a score of 4-0 on Saturday in the second day of the TOC. Unfortunately, they lost to Western Oregon in the nightcap. 
 
Stanislaus State is now 16-22. Kylie Ragsdale held the Eagles to no runs and only seven hits. She pitched an incredible seven innings bringing her record to 4-6. Kyndra Marzorini lost against Western Oregon striking out two and she pitched six innings. 
 
Stanislaus State played an unanswered game against Concordia-Irvine starting when Kayla Fajardo scored in the bottom of the third. The score stayed 1-0 until Aliyah Garvin's explosive homerun down the left field line which ran in two including her own. The other run Stan State scored also happened in the fifth when Melissa Spencer hit a double allowing Alexus Martinez to score.  
 
Against Western Oregon, the Warriors fought hard throughout the game and played great defense but couldn't put up the runs. Stan State lost 3-1. 
 
Aliyah Garvin went 4 for 7 on Saturday with three RBI and one homerun. Melissa Spencer wen t 1 for 4 against CUI and had one run and an RBI. Alexus Martinez went 2 for 7 with one run but she also had two stolen bases. Kayla Fajardo went 3 for 5 and had a run. 
 
Overall the Warriors had five runs, 14 hits and nine RBI. 
 
The Warriors played hard against both teams and this gave them a win against the No. 5 team in Division ll which gave them the energy to come out to compete against Western Oregon. 
 
The team will be back tomorrow to take on Chaminade in their last game of the tournament at 11:30 am.
