Surprise, Ariz.—The Warrior Tennis team traveled to Surprise, Arizona on Tuesday to begin their journey in the PacWest Championships. They took on Fresno Pacific Wednesday, April 17, to end in a loss of 4-2. Despite the loss, the Warriors battled in each match point by point.
 
The doubles teams brought on the first point for Stanislaus State. No. 1 doubles team, Cassidy Ferrell and Kayla Nguyen beat No. 1 doubles for the Sunbirds, Gaya Solomon and Ioanna Lathouri. Ferrell and Nguyen won 6-4. At No. 2 doubles, Maria Ochoa and Megan Hagerty won 6-2. The third match ended unfinished due to clinch rules, making Stan State the first ones on the board.
 
Ferrell won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles after taking on Marina Lex.
 
Unfortunately, Fresno Pacific took over in the rest of the singles matches ending the No. 3 singles unfinished after they earned four points before Stan State. At No. 3, Maria Ochoa was able to tie up her first set 5-5, before she lost 7-5. She stayed strong point for point before her match was left unfinished with a 4-0 score at the end of her second set.
 
The Warriors will compete in one more match tomorrow against Hawaii Hilo at 5 p.m. in hopes of bringing home a win.
