TURLOCK — In one of the fastest collegiate baseball games, the Stanislaus State Warriors took game one of the series over Cal State Dominguez Hills, 4-2, Thursday night.
Behind the pitching arms of ace
Chase Wheatcroft and the insanely dominant
Matt Pulos, the Warriors improve to 24-17 overall and 20-15 in the CCAA to stay in fourth place.
Pulo set a new Stanislaus State record Thursday night with two more shutout innings, running his scoreless innings pitched streak to 28 2/3. He broke a record set earlier this season by Wheatcroft, who threw 27 1/3 scoreless innings.
Wheatcroft went seven innings and gave up two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts to pick up the win.
The Stanislaus State offense used extra-base hits to score runs in a contest that took just two hours and two minutes to complete.
Seven different Warriors had hits and
Nathan Gutierrez was 2-for-3 to lead the Warriors.
Braeden Oki doubled in a run in the third,
Grant Bunker's triple scored
Vinny Margiotta in the fourth and
Brandon De La Guardia drove in a score with a triple in the fifth.
