TURLOCK — The two four-year seniors in the Stan State program keyed the day's doubleheader sweep as the Warriors took both games, 6-0 and 4-1, over Humboldt State on Senior Day Friday.
The Warriors rolled to the four-game series sweep to improved to 22-29, 15-21 in the CCAA. Humboldt State, which had an eight-game winning streak entering this series, dropped to 19-27, 10-24.
Stanislaus State swept Humboldt State in a four-game series for the first time ever. It was also the Warriors' second four-game series sweep this season (they beat Cal State East Bay four times Feb. 28-March 1).
Senior pitcher
Kylie Ragsdale made her final home start count with a five-hit shutout in Friday's first game. Ragsdale allowed just four singles and a double and kept seven Lumberjacks on base. She needed just 80 pitches and three strikeouts to put the game away for her 45
th career win.
On offense, the Warriors scored twice in the first on a two-run double by
Deja Guzman. Stan State added four unearned runs runs in the fifth inning, helped by a throwing error.
Desiree Gonzalez and Guzman both collected RBIs in the inning.
Guzman went 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and Gonzalez had two hits and scored twice. Senior
Alexus Martinez was 1-for-4 for her 250 career hit, extending her school record.
Martinez would add two more hits in the series finale to lead the Warrior offense to the 4-1 win. Gonzalez again had two hits for a four-hit day which included two doubles.
Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the sixth,
Lia Tom provided the insurance runs with a hard line-drive two-run homer to left to make it 4-1.
Freshman hurler
Kyndra Marzorini pitched six shutout innings in relief and gave up just two hits for the win to improve to 11-12.
The Lumberjacks were led by Rylie Carlier with three hits on the day.
