Alexus Martinez has Record-Breaking Game in Saturday’s Doubleheader

TURLOCK—Senior shortstop, Alexus Martinez, broke the Stanislaus State all-time record for hitting on Saturday as she had her 241st hit as a Warrior. Martinez ended last season with 207 hits and with 34 hits this year she has taken No. 1 over alumni, Meghan Franksen. Martinez went 1 for 5 overall. Her record game was a great start to the day but unfortunately, the Warriors went 0-2 against the Gators of San Francisco State.

The Gators had their hitting shoes on as they raked in 17 hits on Saturday, succeeding to 22-14 overall and 15-11 in conference. The Warriors are now 17-24 overall and 10-16 in the CCAA.

The Warriors had a good game one with six hits and three runs, only losing 6-3. They struggled when it came to game two when they only had five hits and two runs.

The Gators came out hot in game two when they scored seven runs in the first inning and went on to score two in the top of the second.  At this point, the Warriors were fighting to keep the game going and not allow a mercy call. Unfortunately, the game ended in five when the Warriors lost 10-2.

Sydnee Machado went 2 for 3 having the best record of the offense. Desiree Gonzalez went 2 for 6 with and RBI. Kayla Fajardo went 1 for 5 with a hit and an RBI. Aliyah Garvin went 1 for 3 in the nightcap and batted in both runs. Melissa Spencer went 3 for 6 with a run and an RBI.

Megan Stacy pitched six innings in the doubleheader and struck out two. Kylie Ragsdale got the loss for game one pitching five and Kyndra Marzorini got the loss for game two after giving up seven hits and nine runs.

Center fielder, Brylynn Vallejos, 4 for 8 with two RBI and one run for the Gators. Emily Mitchell pitched seven innings in game one only allowing six hits and three runs. Karla Soto pitched three and allowed only one hit and one run for game two.

The Warriors will be back tomorrow to take on San Francisco in another doubleheader starting at noon.
