LOS ANGELES – The Warriors traveled to Los Angeles Friday to take on the Golden Eagles of Cal State L.A. Stan State was unable to recover from the four goals the Golden Eagles made in the first half and this ultimately led to their defeat, 5-1. The Warriors take their first loss of conference play making their record 0-1-0 with an overall record of 3-3-0.
Cal State L.A., ranked No. 7 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll, continues to be undefeated with an overall record of 6-0-0 and take their CCAA record to 1-0-0.
GOALS
- The Warriors came out kicking when Ryan Kane made the first goal in the 4th minute. Dayne Sturtevant assisted Kane with a long run and cross pass in front of the goal.
- In the 12th minute. Daniel Simonis was assisted by David Elizaga for the Golden Eagles first goal.
- Tim Klefisch made the score 2-1 for CSULA with a penalty kick in the 17th minute.
- Robin Lindahl took a shot from low right for a goal in the 24th minute. Simonis threaded the needle for a complete pass to Lindahl to complete the goal.
- The Golden Eagles couldn't be stopped in the end of the first half as Ramon Hofmann came in for their fourth goal in the 35th minute. Hofmann was assisted by Angel Estrada and Carl Solli in a scramble in front of the box.
- Jorge Orellana assisted Hofmann for the Golden Eagle's first goal in the second half in the 57th minute.
GOALKEEPER NOTES
- Justin Motzkus had a total of seven saves. This ties his season best which he first had on September 14 against Simpson.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Golden Eagles outshot the Warriors 21-3.
- Stan State and Cal State L.A. 4-24-3 since they first played in September 1998. The last time the two teams met, the Warriors were edged out by one goal for a loss of 0-1 in September 2018.
