CARSON – Stan State took on Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday where the Warriors fell 2-0. Despite the loss,
Justin Motzkus played good defense only allowing one goal in each half. It was a tough game and the Warriors fall to 0-2-0 in the CCAA. They are now 3-4-0 overall.
The Toros are 2-5-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference.
GOALS
- Toros, Josue Cartegena, scored the first goal of the game in the 8th minutes off a penalty kick.
- After a quiet break with no action, the Toros get back on the board when Cesar Rivera scored with assists from Joshua Varon and Alberto Carrillo in the 59th minute, 2-0.
GOALKEEPER NOTES
- Justin Motzkus, despite a tough start, redeemed himself in the second half. He had a total of 10 saves which is a new personal high for Motzkus.
- Motzkus faced 30 shots which is also the most shots he has faced this season and in his career as a Warrior. He played incredible defense only allowing the two goals out of 30 shots, 12 of which were on goal.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors and the Toros last met in September 2018 where the Toros won 3-0. The two teams are 4-21-2 since they first played each other in October 1998.
- The Toros outshot the Warriors 30-8. The Warriors had the most shots in the first half.
