Warriors take tough loss to Golden Eagles on Thursday

LOS ANGELES –The Warriors took another tough loss against Cal State L.A., rounding out the game, 60-69. Stan State started out strong but those Golden Eagles just got the best of them once again towards the end. Despite the loss, the team fought their way through the game not falling too far behind.
 
The Warriors are now 8-8 overall and 6-5 in the CCAA. The Golden Eagles have an overall record of 7-10 and 5-6 in conference.
 
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE NIGHT A TEAM EFFORT
  • The Warriors started out the game strong with a nine-point run and were leading until the end of the first quarter when the Golden Eagles tied up the game 11-11.
  • From there, the Warriors just couldn't quite catch up to CSULA as they continued to lead the rest of the game.
  • The Warriors had a tough time shooting from the field Thursday night going 18 for 66.
  • Stan State shot 67.7% from the free throw line going 21 for 31.
  • The team out stole the Golden Eagles, 14-8.
  • The Warriors scored 24 points in the paint and 19 off turnovers. The Golden Eagles only scored 22 points in the paint and nine off turnovers. 
NOTEWORTHY
  • The Warriors are 23-21 against the Golden Eagles since they first met in December 1998.
  • The last time the two teams met was on December 7, 2019 when the Warriors faced their first CCAA loss of this season with a score of 82-85.
  • Davis led that game with a big 21 points.
  • This is the second loss to the Golden Eagles this season.
