CARSON – The Warriors were ready to get another win under their belts and they did just that on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors came out strong and kept a lead over the Toros to beat them, 80-74. Six Warriors scored double-digits to make this win a full team effort over Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The Warriors are now 9-8 overall and 7-5 in the CCAA. The Toros now have an overall record of 7-10 and 4-7 in conference.
LEADERS OF THE GAME
- The team started out strong in the first half with Lizzie Moore already in double-digits with ten and Caitlin Keding close to it with nine points.
- Keding played an incredible game with 14 points, four rebounds and two steals. Keding shot 100 percent going 4 for 4 from the three-point arc.
- Brittney Livingston scored 12 points.
- Angelica Baylon led with five assists and scored 11 points.
- Kaleigh Taylor, Lizzie Moore and Kianna Davis all scored ten.
- Moore led with eight rebounds and two blocks.
TEAM PERFORMANCE
- The Warriors kept a good lead in the first quarter as they scored 25 points to lead 12 over the Toros. They kept this lead going into halftime to lead by 11, 46-35.
- To start the fourth quarter, the Toros went on a six-point run to come closer to the Warriors, but the Warriors kept ahead.
- Even though the Warriors did pull out this win, the Toros outscored them in three of four quarters.
- The Warriors went 15 for 19 from the free throw line shooting 78.9 percent.
- Stan State shot 58.3 percent from the three-point arc going 7 for 12 and shot 46.8 percent from the field.
- The Warriors had a lead of 19 which would be their largest lead of the game in the third quarter.
- The team scored 32 points in the paint and 16 off turnovers.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors are 19-22 against the Toros since they first met in December 1998.
- The last time the two teams met was on November 26, 2019 when the Warriors beat the Toros 85-67.
- Lauren Toler led the team in that game with 20 points.
- The last time the Warriors had five or more players score in double was when they had five against Cal State L.A. on February 28, 2017.
