SAN MARCOS — Despite a big comeback in the second half, the Stanislaus State men's basketball team's rally came up short as the Warriors suffered a rare road loss at Cal State San Marcos Thursday night.
Trailed by as many as 18 points, the Warriors got within five before losing 84-76 to fall to 9-6 in the CCAA (13-6 overall). Stan State remains in fifth place in the CCAA standings heading into Saturday's game at #4 ranked UC San Diego.

Ty Davis scored 20 points, his second 20-point game of the season, on a nice shooting night. He was 8 of 14 and made 2 of 5 three-point tries. He also had six rebounds and three assists.

Darius Scott made three three-pointers en route to a 17-point night.
• Luis Sagaldo also nailed three triples for a 12-point night.

Xavier Francois pull seven rebounds and scored 12 points.
Ups and Downs
• Stanislaus State started the game on a streak and led 14-1 at 14:12 after a
Fred Lavender jumper.
• The Cougars scored 24 of the game's next 35 points to tie the game; and a see-saw battle ensued.
• At 41-41 early in the second half, CSUSM used a 12-0 run to a 12-point lead, a lead they held on to in the end.
• With a Blake Seits three-pointer at 11:34, San Marcos led by 18, 63-45, for its biggest margin.
• The Warriors remained strong, rolling off a 14-2 run to pull within six points at 65-59 on a
Kainoa Ballungay layup at 6:00 to play.
Team Notes
• The Warriors made 17 of 20 free throws for 85 percent, the second straight game they shot 80 percent or better.
• Stan State battled in the game and nearly took a win despite missing
Vida Faniel this week.
• The Warriors are now 10-4 in away or netural site games.
CCAA Standings Watch
• The Warriors remain in fifth place at 9-6 in CCAA play. They are a game ahead of Cal State East Bay.
• Stan State now trails fourth place Cal Poly Pomona by 1 1/2 games.
• The eighth place teams, Cal State L.A. and Cal State Dominguez Hills, are 5-8.
