ARCATA – The Warriors took another short loss in Arcata as they took on the Jacks of Humboldt State Saturday night. Stan State stayed strong through the game and was able to keep the deficit to only seven points. The Warriors lost to the Jacks 72-79.
The Warriors are now 7-6 overall and 5-3 in the CCAA. The Jacks stand at 9-4 overall and 5-3 in the CCAA.
PLAYERS OF THE GAME
- At the half, Brittney Livingston led with six points and Kaleigh Taylor led with six rebounds.
- Taylor completed her third double-double of the season leading with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
- Kyanna Davis also scored double digits with 13 points; she made eight rebounds.
- Lizzy Alexander was back in the roster as she played a great game with 11 points and two blocks.
- Angelica Baylon made ten assists! This was her second game of the season with double-digit assists.
TEAM PERFORMANCE
- The Warriors were the first to score at the start of the game but eventually fell behind to Humboldt's gain of momentum. At the half, the Warriors trailed 21-29.
- At the start of the second half, the Warriors picked up their energy and were still only trailing by eight going into the fourth quarter.
- Despite the loss, the Warriors made more field goals but had a lower overall shooting percentage from the field.
- They went 9 for 14 from the free throw line with a 64.3 percent overall average.
- Stan State outbounded the Jacks 49-36.
- The Warriors scored 32 points in the paint and four off turnovers.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors are 6-22 against the Jacks since they first met in January 2007.
- The last time the two teams met in February 2019, the Warriors lost 58-65.
- Both teams were fighting to win and Humboldt just barely made it past the Warriors with their eight-point lead for almost the entire game.
