Davis lands fourth double-double in incredibly close game Thursday night

ROHNERT PARK – The Warriors were looking for a win Thursday evening to make their way to the CCAA Championship. Stan State was ready to bring their a-game and fought their way until the very end when the Seawolves took the game. The Warriors lost 64-66.
 
The Warriors are now 12-12 overall and 10-9 in the CCAA. The Seawolves are 15-8 after tonight's win and 11-7 in the CCAA.
 
TOP PERFORMERS OF THE NIGHT
  • Lizzie Moore was leading with ten points at the half. Moore concluded the game with 11 points.
  • Kyanna Davis landed a huge double-double, leading the team with 17 points and ten rebounds. She also had three steals.
  • This was Davis' fourth double-double of the season.
  • Angelica Baylon scored 12 points. She led with two assist and four steals.
  • Davis not only had an excellent night but she also went 8-for-8 from the free throw line shooting a perfect 100 percent.
TEAM PERFORMANCE
  • The Seawolves gained an early lead until Davis shot a three-pointer to take the lead 13-11.
  • From there, both teams battled back and forth in the first quarter. The Warriors took the lead for almost the entire second quarter but the Warriors let their guard down and went into halftime trailing 28-34.
  • Soon the Seawolves took off and gained a lead of 16 going into the fourth.
  • The Warriors were trying to catch up to the tail-end of the Seawolves but they just couldn't keep up.
  • The Warriors struggled from the three-point arc only making three the whole night.
  • Towards the end of the game, the Warriors picked up their energy and started to come back but time ran out before they could takeover.
  • The team scored more field goals than the Seawolves but shot ten percent under Sonoma State.
  • The Warriors scored 40 points in the paint and 20 off turnovers.
  • Overall the Warriors made 13 steals while the Seawolves only made six.
NOTEWORTHY
  • The Warriors are 18-24 against the Seawolves since they first met in December 1998.  
  • The last time the two teams met was on January 19, 2019 when the Warriors lost to the Seawolves, 47-58.
  • The Warriors needed one more win to clinch a spot in post-season play. 
UP NEXT
 
The Warriors will take on the Gators of San Francisco State on Saturday, February 15 at 5:30 p.m. with the hopes of heading to the CCAA Championship.
