TURLOCK –The Warriors went out Saturday afternoon to try and sweep the Pioneers once again. Unfortunately, late runs from the Pioneers would allow Cal State East Bay to take it all and sweep the Warriors.
The Pioneers defeated the Warriors 3-1 in game one and 2-1 in game two.
Stan State is now 5-8 overall and 4-4 in the CCAA. The Pioneers are 5-10 overall and 3-5 in the CCAA after tonight.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Aliyah Garvin continued to dominate the game, not missing a beat. She went 2-for-6 with an RBI.
- Garvin was the solo RBI to run in the solo hit from Payton West in game two.
- West went 1-for-3 in game two with the solo run for the Warriors. West also hit a double in the second game of the day.
- Korie Corral has been showing herself as a powerful player on defense and offense. Corral went 3-for-7 over the day with a double.
- Madison Flexser scored the solo run in the first game of the day with the help from Deja Guzman's RBI.
- Joerdan Lovell went 1-for-2 in game one.
PITCHING HIGHLIGHTS
- Kyndra Marzorini was put into both games over the day to try and save the Warriors and get another win.
- Marzorini pitched 5.3 innings striking out four. She allowed no runs and only five hits.
- Marzorini was put into the second game of the doubleheader with bases loaded and tried to keep them back.
- Unfortunately, Marzorini wouldn't be able to keep those runners back.
- Delaney Pamplin received the loss, bringing her record to 3-1.
- Danielle Stallings received the loss in the first game.
A TEAM EFFORT
- The team struggled on this second day of the Cal State East Bay series and this would show as they went 11-for-52 with two runs and two RBI.
- Stan State fought hard to keep the second game in their hands. They scored one in the fourth and held onto that for the entire fifth inning.
- The Pioneers would score two in the top of the sixth and take the game from there.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors are 27-20 against the Pioneers since they first met in March 1999.
- In Friday's doubleheader, the Warriors swept the Pioneers.
- On Friday, February 14, the Warriors beat the Pioneers 3-0 in game one and 5-1 in game two.
UP NEXT
The Warriors will be on the road for the rest of February. They will travel to La Jolla on February 21 to take on the Tritons of UC San Diego in a four-game series.
