HAYWARD — After winning a game that took 22 hours and 22 minutes to complete, the No. 19 Stanislaus State Warriors dropped the series finale by one run to split the four-game set against Cal State East Bay.
The Warriors won game three of the series on Sunday, 6-4, in 13 innings. Then the host Pioneers held off a late Stan State surge to take the finale, 7-6, for the split.
Stanislaus State, which entered the week at No. 19 in the NCBWA national poll and No. 3 in the West, is now 11-3 overall and 5-3 in CCAA play.
The 13-inning Marathon
• Game three of the series — second game of Saturday's doubleheader — took more than 22 hours to complete.
• The scheduled 7-inning game, which started on time at 2 p.m., was halted at 4-4 in the 12
th inning Saturday evening when it got too dark at 5:54 p.m.
• The game resumed at Noon on Sunday and took 22 minutes to complete the 13-inning marathon.
• The score was 4-4 after four innings as teams traded zeros for the next eight frames.

Matt Elser's double to center scored two Stan State runs in the top of the 13
th for the go-ahead runs.

Alexis Paz ended up 4 for 7 in the long game.
•
Jacob Garcia was 3-for-6.
• The Warriors bullpen outlasted CSUEB's with
Maxwell Pappas earning the win with two shutout innings.

Anthony Ramirez threw 6 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball. He gave up just three hits and struck out six.
The Finale Game
• Sunday's regular game took 3 hours and 30 minutes to play after it started at 12:45 p.m.

Jayce Gardner went 3-for-5 to lead the offense.
• Stan State capitalized on Cal State East Bay errors early to plate the first three runs.
• A bases loaded walk in the eighth scored a run in the eighth, too.
• Down 7-3, the Warriors scored twice in the eighth and a run in the ninth but came up short.
Numbers vs. CSUEB
• Stan State hit .279 in the four-game set, led by
Dylon Jackson who was 7 for 17 (.412) with two doubles.

Jayce Gardner was 6 for 15 (.400) with three doubles in the four games against the Pioneers.
•
Alexis Paz also had seven hits in the series (7 for 21) and drove in four runs.
•
Anthony Ramirez had the best pitching numbers, going 6 1/3 in relief without allowing a run.
•
Rylan Tinsley threw a complete game in Friday's win.
•
Nathan Gutierrez also had a good outing on Saturday, with 4 2/3 innings and gave up just a run on four hits.
• Stan State committed just one error in four games.

The Warriors are back home, where they are 9-1 this season, next weekend as they host Cal State Monterey Bay. Game one of the series is Friday night at. 6 p.m.
