Gonzalez had four-game day, Warriors split with Coyotes

SAN BERNARDINO – The Warriors had a strong weekend against the Coyotes of San Bernardino as they scored almost ten runs in two of the games. Although the two teams split this weekend, that didn't mean that the Warriors had bad games. The women played very well in all four games and was so close to taking the series 3-1 over the Coyotes. The teams split 2-2.

The Warriors lost to the Coyotes 2-3 in game one and beat Cal State San Bernardino 9-6 in game two.

The Warriors improve to 8-13 overall and 7-9 in the CCAA. The Coyotes are 11-10 overall and 9-7 in the conference.

LEADING WARRIORS OF THE DAY
  • Aliyah Garvin was already a frontrunner in game one when she score two runs in the first four innings.
  • At the top of the first, Garvin scored after Joerdan Lovell singled up the middle.
  • Garvin's second run came when Kyndra Marzorini doubled down the left field line in the top of the third and Garvin ran one in.
  • Gonzalez went going 3-for-3 in game two with two runs, four RBI and also two doubles!
  • Sidney Crippen-Lay went 2-for-4 in game two with two runs.
  • Cherise Mori played great scoring two runs and going 1-for-3.
  • Riquel Riveira, Delaney Pamplin, and Morgan Leonard all scored a run in game two.
  • Delaney Pamplin earned the win after she pitched four innings and struck out three. She is 4-5 this year.
Key notes of game one
  • The Warriors and the Coyotes were tied up at the top of the seventh at 2-2. This was because the Coyotes scored two in the bottom of the third to tie up the game.
  • The two teams went quiet since the bottom of the third up until the Coyotes scored to win the game 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh.
  • The Coyotes winning run was scored unearned from Vacko getting on base from a pass ball. This walkoff would hand the Warriors the loss.
Key notes of game two
  • Cherise Mori scored her second run of the season after Lovell hit a single up the middle in the top of the first. This put the Warriors up 1-0.
  • The Warriors were hot at bat on Saturday as they scored three in the top of the second and had five hits.
  • Desiree Gonzalez doubled to center field in the second and was able to run in two of those runs.
  • Mori scored again in the top of the fourth, followed by a run by Gonzalez to make the score 6-4.
  •  In the top of the fifth, Payton West his sac fly to run in Morgan Leonard as well as advance Sidney Crippen-Lay and Delaney Pamplin.
  •  Gonzalez was on fire in this second game as she doubled to help get the two runners on base in for two runs! At this point in the game, the score was 9-4.
NOTEWORTHY
  • The Warriors are 50-49 against the Coyotes since they first met in March 1999.
  • When the two teams met yesterday, February 28, the Warriors downed the Coyotes 10-5 in game one but fell in game two, 0-2.
UP NEXT

The Warriors are finally back home on March 6 when they will take on the Toros of Cal State Dominguez Hills in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
