TURLOCK –The Warriors played strong against the No. 23 Toros on Friday as they split the doubleheader 1-1. The team knew that they would have to give it their all when it came to wanting to beat the Toros and they did just that. Despite several errors, the women stayed strong and were able to pull out one game as they enter into Saturday.
The Warriors are now 9-14 overall and 8-10 in the CCAA. The Toros are 15-7 overall and 8-4 in the CCAA.
LEADING PLAYERS OF THE EVENING
- Aliyah Garvin was a strong player in game one as she went 1-for-3 and scored one run after an incredible home run. She had one RBI.
- Kyndra Marzorini went 1-for-3 in game one with one run. In game two she pitched five innings and struck out two.
- Desiree Gonzalez was not only a huge part of Friday's victory at bat but she was also incredible at shortstop.
- Gonzalez had several outs under her as she was diving left and right to catch balls.
- Gonzalez went 1-for-3 in game one with a run and three RBI. She went 1-for-3 in game two as well. Gonzalez hit two doubles over the day.
- Korie Corral played strong at third base and at bat she scored a run and an RBI.
- Cherise Mori played almost a perfect day as she went 3-for-4 overall with one run.
- Kayla Fajardo pinch ran for pitcher Megan Stacy and was able to score a run.
- Megan Stacy earned herself her second win of the season as she pitched five and struckout three. Stacy went 1-for-2 at bat.
- Melissa Spencer went 2-for-3 and ran in one.
NOTEWORTHY
- The Warriors were able to keep the Toros quiet in game one when they scored four in the bottom of the third and also stayed ahead being able to not have the bottom of the seventh.
- The Warriors are 49-47 against the Toros since they first met in May 1999.
- The last time the two teams met in February 2019, the Toros took the series 3-1. The Warriors won in the second game of that series on February 16, 2019.
