Warriors end the weekend with victory over San Francisco State

SAN FRANCISCO – The Warriors split with the Gators on day two of their series after losing game one and winning game two. The Warriors were tired after having to finish a game from Friday's doubleheader prior and that game got the best of them. The team picked themselves up for the second game and were able to get the win 5-4. Stan State fell 0-6 in game one.
 
The Warriors are now 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the CCAA. The Gators are now 4-5 overall and fall to 2-2 in the CCAA.

TOP PERFORMERS
  • The Warriors did great today pitching. Megan Stacy pitched 4.1 and struckout four.
  • Delaney Pamplin earned her second win pitching 2.2 innings
  • "Megan Stacy threw great all weekend and when she was tired we had Delaney who threw awesome all weekend as well," said Head Coach Jessica Ventoza.
  • With a power house behind the team, Ventoza said that Payton West had great at bats and pushed their defense.
  • In the second game, Melissa Spencer went 2-for-2 with one run and a stolen base!
  • Aliyah Garvin went 1-for-4 and earned herself two RBI.
  • Joerdan Lovell finished the game with a hit in game two to take home the win.
  • The other runs were scored by Madison Flexser, Kayla Fajardo, Korie Corral and Riquel Riveira.
  • Corral had a great game going 1-for-3 and a double.
  • Riveira also earned and RBI and went 1-for-4.
TEAM PERFORMANCE
  • "The team did a better job hitting situationally and had quality at bats in the games they won," said Ventoza.
  • Overall, the team was able to pick themselves up in game two and took down the Gators with their excellent hitting and powerful pitching.
  • The team went 7-for-28 overall with 21 putouts.
NOTEWORTHY
  • Earlier today, the team lost 0-6 to the Gators. Yesterday when the two teams met the Warriors lost game one 3-4.
  • This morning, the teams finished out game two from yesterday and the Warriors won 3-2.
  • The Warriors are now 55-52 against the Gators since they first played in February 1999.  
UP NEXT
The Warriors will play their home-opener next weekend against Cal State East Bay starting on Friday, February 14 at 3 p.m.
