West, Warriors take down Gators in continuation of Friday’s doubleheader

SAN FRANCISCO –Despite a halt in yesterday's doubleheader, the Warriors did not let this get them down as they defeated the Gators 3-2. It was a few simple plays to stop the Gators and the Warriors were heading into Saturday's doubleheader with a victory.
 
The Warriors succeed to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the CCAA. The Gators are now 3-4 overall and fall to 1-1 in the CCAA.
 
STANDOUTS OF THE GAME
  • Payton West played an incredible game going 2-for-3 and scoring two runs. West also earned herself an RBI.
  • In the top of the second, West doubled out to center field and she also hit a triple in the top of the third!
  • Aliyah Garvin scored a run and stole a base going 2-for-4 to start her day.
  • Deja Guzman earned an RBI in the top of the second after West scored.
  • Delaney Pamplin pitched seven innings and struck out two. 
TEAM PERFORMANCE
  • The team went 9-for-29 overall scoring three runs with two RBI.
  • The Gators went 6-for-25 overall.
  • The team was ready to close out the game on Saturday morning as they had a few simple plays to close out the seventh.
  • The team would continue to play as if they never stopped from yesterday, keeping up their momentum and wanting to move on to the rest of the day. 
NOTEWORTHY
  • Yesterday, the two teams played in the first game of the doubleheader and the Warriors lost in the ninth inning, 3-4.
  • The Warriors are 54-51 against the Gators since they first played in February 1999. 
UP NEXT
 
The Warriors will close out the series in another doubleheader Saturday starting at Noon.
