Warriors fall short in heated game against Broncos

TURLOCK – The Warriors started off slow but soon the game against the Broncos brought heat and high energy. Stanislaus State stayed up on the Broncos in the fourth quarter and eventually gained a lead of two. This was until the Broncos scored six last minute points to take the game, 69-65.
 
The Warriors fall to 12-11 overall and 10-8 in the CCAA. The Broncos succeed to 15-8 overall and 11-6 in the CCAA.
 
WARRIORS LEADING THE WAY
  • The Warriors were ready to play as both Brittney Livingston and Caitlin Keding ranked in a whole 14 points.
  • Kyanna Davis scored 11 and led with nine rebounds, just one shy of another double-double.
  • Angelica Baylon was playing a great game with six assists and five steals.
  • Livingston also made five assists! She went 4-for-8 from the three-point arc and 5-for-10 from the field. 
WARRIORS ALWAYS SHOWING TEAM WORK
  • The Warriors had a lead of eight in the fourth quarter which would be their largest lead of the game.
  • The team scored 24 points in the paint and 14 off turnovers.
  • Despite the close score, the Warriors struggled in scoring Saturday night.
  • The team went 7-for-16 from the free throw line shooting at 43.8 percent.
  • The Warriors shot best overall in the second quarter when they shot 40 percent from both the field and three-point arc.
  • In the third quarter, the Warriors would show their best shooting from just the field shooting 6-for-14. 
NOTEWORTHY
  • The Warriors are 8-35 against the Broncos since they first met in January 1999.
  • The last time the two teams met was on February 21, 2019 when the Warriors lost to the Broncos by four, 65-69.
  • This is the first time the teams have met this year.
  • The Warriors had a three-game losing streak against the Broncos before Saturday night, this continues the streak into four games.
