SAN FRANCISCO –The Warriors were defeated by the San Francisco Gators on Friday evening as they lost 1-3. Stan State put up a fight but eventually lost in the fourth set, (13-25, 25-21, 20-25, 19-25).
The Warriors are now 10-9 overall and 6-5 in conference.
Haley Burdo helped her team in their victory in the second set as she had 16 assists overall and ten digs at the end of the game. Also with ten digs was
Bella Isaia.
Yisel Perez totaled seven kills, four aces and six digs over the whole game.
Ambria Schneringer was a leader with 12 assists as well.
The Gators had Kimberly DeBoer with 36 assists and 17 digs which gave the Warriors tough competition. They also outplayed the Warriors with 55 kills, 49 assists and 48 digs which ultimately led to the Warriors downfall.
Despite this loss, Stan State was still able to get this game two four sets with their 25-21 win in the second set. The Warriors had 40 kills, 11 blocks, 36 assists and 45 digs total.
"We did some great things tonight as a team. I thought we served well consistently throughout the game and had some great blocks. We struggled with our passing tonight though," said Head Coach
Maci Murdock. "We started slow in the 4th set and it took us too long to get our rhythm back. Overall I thought we played well against a pretty solid team. Tomorrow is a new day, so we keep our heads high and get ready for Monterey."
The women will travel to Seaside on Saturday, October 23 to take on the Otters of Monterey Bay at 5 p.m.
