EASIDE –Stan State played a tough game on Saturday evening as they battled it out against the Otters of Monterey in five sets. Unfortunately, the Warriors feel in five at 2-3. The women took the win in sets two and three but fell short in the last two sets.
The Warriors are now 10-10 overall and 6-6 in conference. The Otters get their second conference win to be 2-10 in the CCAA and 8-8 overall.
Mya Marshall and
Yisel Perez both had 15 digs to lead their team. Marshall also had 14 kills and 38 total attacks. Perez finished the game with three aces, ten kills and 28 total attacks.
Haley Burdo was once again the leader in assists for the Warriors as she had 28 total by the end of the match. Also with 11 assists was
Ambria Schneringer.
Cassie Corbett had several season bests in the game with her 11 kills and 12 digs.
The Warriors were able to keep up with the Otters as the pulled out ten aces, 50 assists, 53 kills and 64 digs. The total scores overall for the Warriors were 24-26, 25-15, 25-22, 15-25, 7-15.
"We didn't get the outcome we hoped for. Monterey out worked us and had some great offense. They were great on defense and we made more unforced errors. We will learn from this and work to get better next week," said Head Coach
Maci Murdock.
The women will be back at their home arena on Friday, October 29 to take on Cal State San Marcos at 5 p.m.
