TURLOCK — The Stanislaus State women's basketball team won its third game in a row Saturday with another balanced attack and stout defense, completing a 2-0 weekend at their own Warrior Classic with a 74-57 win over Academy of Art at Fitzpatrick Arena.

Four Warriors finished in double-figure scoring, and three had at least seven rebounds. Stanislaus State (3-1) also limited the Urban Knights (2-2) to 27.9% shooting on the night, including just 12.9% (4 for 31) from 3-point range.

Kyanna Davis' hot start to her senior year continued Saturday. She logged her third 20-point game of the young season and first double-double with 15 rebounds – one short of her career high. Davis is averaging a double-double through the first four games of 2021-22 with 20.3 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. She's also tacked on 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game to go with that double-double average.

Liliana Marques scored a season-high 16 points with four rebounds and four steals.
Kaleigh Taylor poured in 13 points and nearly made it back-to-back double-doubles after her performance in Friday's game (16 points, 10 rebounds) with eight boards.
Da'Myiah Lewis scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds, swiped three steals and had a block in only 20 minutes of playing time.

Stanislaus State built its lead to seven points in the first quarter, but Academy of Art came back to take the lead early in the second with a 14-4 run. Stan State shot 1 for 5 and committed four turnovers during the Urban Knights' run, but it bounced right back with a 10-2 run of its own to go back ahead by seven at 31-24 and never trail again.

The Warriors were able to push their lead up to double digits in the third and to as high as 17 points in the fourth thanks to a defense that locked down in the second half. Stanislaus State held Academy of Art to just 23.1% shooting in the third quarter, including 0 for 5 from deep. The Urban Knights were just 2 for 17 from beyond the arc in the second half, as the Stan State defense locked down any inside opportunities.
