DAVIS — The Stanislaus State women's basketball team wrapped up its Division I exhibition schedule Monday with a strong performance at Big West Conference favorite UC Davis, as the Aggies came away with an 84-55 non-conference win at the University Credit Union Center.
Â
The Warriors (9-1) pushed the Aggies (5-3) on their home floor, scoring 16, 16 and 18 points, respectively, in the first three quarters. That was more than nationally ranked Oregon scored in three quarters against the Aggies (5-3) on Dec. 1 in Eugene, Ore. (14 in the first, 11 and 11 in the third and fourth). Stanislaus State's 55 points against UC Davis were more than the Aggies allowed against three other Division I opponents this season.
Â
Stanislaus State had four double-digit scorers led by 17 points from
Da'Myiah Lewis. Lewis added eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in a complete effort.
Ashmeen Sran scored 13 points with six rebounds, including going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
Lavinia Moa poured in 12 with five boards, and
Liliana Marques chipped in 11 with four boards and two steals. Stan State hung around in the game in part thanks to outrebounding UCD on the offensive glass, 12-9.
Â
UC Davis scored more than 20 points in each of the first three quarters to get out to a 49-32 halftime lead and a 70-50 advantage after three. The Aggies used a 15-2 run that spanned across halftime to get their lead to as high as 26 points at 62-36. Their lead would drop below 20 points only twice after that, both in the third quarter, as they cruised to victory by outscoring the Warriors, 14-5, in the final period.
Â
The Aggies also had four double-digit scorers, led by Kayla Konrad's 14 points. 12 different players scored at least two points for the Aggies. 12 pulled down at least one rebound, and 10 dished at least one assist.
Â
The Warriors get back to California Collegiate Athletic Association action at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday against Sonoma State as part of a doubleheader with the men. Fans can purchase tickets and find all live coverage links on WarriorAthletics.com.
