CHICO — The returns of
Amaya Mcleod and
Kaleigh Taylor were welcome sights Sunday for the Stanislaus State women's basketball team, but the Warriors' historic 10-game winning streak would still come to an end, as host Chico State stormed back in the fourth quarter to come from behind and beat the Warriors, 67-58, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association game at Art Acker Gymnasium.
Â
Chico State (5-5, 2-3 CCAA) outscored Stanislaus State (10-2, 5-1 CCAA), 25-9, in the fourth quarter after the Warriors entered the final period with a seven-point, 49-42 lead.
Da'Myiah Lewis scored two of her season-high 24 points to start the fourth and push Stan State's lead to nine – but she'd only score one more point after that, as the Warriors went 2 for 14 from the floor the rest of the way.
Â
Stanislaus State still led by four, 56-52, with three minutes left to play after a 3-pointer from Mcleod. That's when the Wildcats closed the game with a 15-2 run. The Warriors shot 0 for 8 and committed five fouls in those final three minutes. They went 5 for 28 (17.9%) from 3-point range Sunday after shooting at least 33.3% from deep in three of their last four games.
Â
Lewis led all players set a season high in points for the second straight game – her fourth 20-point performance of the season. She also grabbed eight rebounds and collected four steals, the seventh consecutive game she's had multiple steals and fourth time she's had four or more. She was the only Warrior in double figures for the day.
Taylor Pilot scored nine points, Taylor had eight and Mcleod had seven off the bench.
Â
Pilot added a career-high 12 rebounds and Taylor had a season-best 12, as Stanislaus State outrebounded Chico State, 52-45. Chico State shot 43.8% from beyond the arc, the best performance all season by a Stan State opponent.
Â
The Warriors' 10-game winning streak that ended Sunday was the program's longest in more than 30 years, surpassing the nine in a row won by the 1990-91 team. Chico State's victory Sunday avenged
the Warriors' 68-64 win in Turlock on Nov. 27.

Stanislaus State's 2022-opening CCAA road trip continues next week when they face Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday in Southern California before heading to the Bay Area to take on Cal State East Bay on Saturday. Fans can find all live coverage links on WarriorAthletics.com.
