ARCATA, Calif. — The Stanislaus State women's basketball team progressively got better Saturday throughout its game at Cal Poly Humboldt, but the host Lumberjacks were hot early and held off the Warriors to earn a season series split with a 61-45 California Collegiate Athletic Association win at Lumberjack Arena.

The Lumberjacks (6-9, 5-6 CCAA) outshot the Warriors (11-4, 6-3 CCAA), 41.2% to 14.3% in the first quarter, running out to an 18-7 lead through the first quarter. Stanislaus State made only two baskets in the first quarter, going 2 for 14, including 1 for 8 from 3-point range. The Warriors' shooting percentage increased in each of the following three quarters, peaking at 30.0% in the fourth. Cal Poly Humboldt stayed ahead all game by shooting 37.5% for the game, including making 10 3-pointers.

Taylor Pilot recorded her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Stanislaus State.
Joia Armstrong was close to recording her first as well, scoring seven points and collecting nine boards. The Warriors were still without their top two scorers,
Kyanna Davis and
Da'Myiah Lewis, who have missed the team's last five and three games, respectively. Stan State only used seven players on Saturday, six of them newcomers, as the roster continues to be limited by injuries and recovers from a two-week COVID-19 protocols break.

Cal Poly Humboldt had three players log double-doubles, as it only used six players. Madison Perry scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Citlaly Davalos also scored 17 and pulled down 12 boards, and Jadence Clifton scored 14 points while dishing 10 assists.

Stanislaus State previously defeated Humboldt on Dec. 11, 51-46, in Turlock. Saturday's win for the Lumberjacks marked the second season in a row the teams split their season series, and broke a modest two-game winning streak in the series for Stanislaus State.
