Three Straight Set Wins Results in a 3-1 Warriors Win Over East Bay

HAYWARD, Calif. – The Warriors' revenge tour started on the road to Cal State East Bay for a 3-1 win against the Pioneers. After losing their initial matchup with the conference rival at home, Stan State flips the script to even the season record vs. East Bay to 1-1.

After going down hard in the first set 15-25, the visiting Warriors needed to turn things around fast. Makenna Carrillo started the match with a block and two kills in the first set. Macky Morris and Alex Byrd also picked up some blocks early on, but would have some catching up to do after an 0-1 opener.

Morris, Cassie Corbett, and 7th-man spark plug Mariah Iosua got things going in the second set, pouring in three kills each to mix things up in set two. The trio would lead the team in kills, combining for a total of 31 on the night. Stanislaus State would down the Pioneers 25-14 to even the match at 1-1.

Setters Haley Burdo and Eyriana Eatmon would collab for 39 total assists in the match, helping the team to a 0.50 hitting percentage in the third set. Morris, Byrd, and Corbett put padlocks on the net with block assists to help take set three 25-10. Byrd would lead the team with five total blocks, while Ellison Weaver came alive early in the set, connecting on three kills and two assists.

Autumn Kirby collected two kills, two service aces, and two blocks down the stretch in the final set and Gabby Rawson kept rallies alive at the libero spot to finish with 14 digs. A well-balanced display of hitting finished East Bay off 25-19. "I was really proud of the competitive response from the whole team tonight," said Coach Lauren Flowers. "I really loved how Autumn played a complete game tonight, she helped us in every aspect of the game which we needed from her."

Next up for the Warriors is Cal State San Marcos on the road Saturday, Oct. 22nd at 1pm.
