TURLOCK, Calif--- With 15 minutes left in this evening's match, the Stan State rallied from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the visiting Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles 2-1. Stan State moved into a tie for second place with Chico State, just two points behind Sonoma State, with two matches left in the regular season in the CCAA.
FIRST HALF: Stan State (8-3-4, 5-2-2 CCAA) had a couple of chances in the first half to take the lead including once in the 25
th minute when Shauna Johnson's shot attempt was blocked by the Golden Eagles' defense. Cal State Los Angeles (7-3-5, 4-1-4 CCAA) had four chances in the 34
th minute to take the lead, but all four were blocked by the Warrior defense. Four minutes later, the visitors took the 1-0 lead on a goal by Gisell Cruz off a ball from Jonnie Sanchez and Skylynn Rodriguez. They had a chance to double their lead when
Alexia Estrada made one of her five saves on the evening to send the match into the second half with CSULA leading 1-0.
SECOND HALF: Ten minutes into the second half,
Taylor Lucas saw her chance to tie the match for Stan State be stopped by the Golden Eagles' Areli Reyes. The Warriors had another chance be stopped in the 72
nd minute, this time off the foot of
Jackzeny Mancilla. Lucas three minutes later scored the tying goal from at least 25 yards out to tie the match at 1-1 for the hosts. With eight minutes left in the match, the Warriors were fouled in the box and Alexia Brewah made the Golden Eagles pay as she scored her tenth goal of the season on the penalty kick. Estrada made a huge save in the 86
th minute to seal the win for the hosts.
SECOND PLACE: Stan State moved into a tie for second place with Chico State after its 2-1 come-from-behind win this evening. Sonoma State is in first place followed by the Warriors and Wildcats. Rounding out the top six are Cal State Los Angeles, Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Marcos. Three teams are four points out of sixth place in Cal Poly Humboldt, Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State Monterey Bay with just two matches left in the regular season.
CCAA TOURNAMENT: The top six teams at the end of the regular season on October 28 will receive a berth to the CCAA Soccer Championships. The top two seeds will receive a first-round bye. The first round will be on October 30 at the number three and four seed's home sites. The semi-finals and finals will take place November 4 and 6 at Seawolf Soccer Field on the campus of Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, Calif. The winner of the CCAA Soccer Championship will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Soccer Championship.

Daisy Martinez. Cal Poly Pomona defeated Cal State East Bay 2-0 this evening in Hayward.
