TURLOCK, Calif.---Â With just one match left in the regular season, the Stan State Warriors moved into a tie for first place in the CCAA standings with Sonoma State after a 3-1 win over Cal Poly Pomona this afternoon at Warrior Stadium in Turlock. Stan State (9-3-4, 6-2-2 CCAA) clinched a spot in the CCAA Championship Tournament, which begins on October 30 with the First Round at higher seeds' sites. The semi-finals and final will take place November 4-6 at Sonoma State in Rohnert Park, Calif.
FIRST HALF:Â Cal Poly Pomona had two early chances to take the lead, but the Warriors'
Alexia Estrada made two of her five saves on the day. The first one in the third minute off the foot of Phoebe Amaro and the second one in the eighth minute off the foot of Nicole Villareal. The Warriors took the 1-0 lead when
Brooke Leal scored off a ball from
Jackzeny Mancilla and
Alexis Brewah in the 14
th minute. The Broncos (6-8-2, 5-4-1 CCAA) tied the match at 1-1 when Marisa Salazar connected on a ball from Jordyn Scott in the 22
nd minute. The hosts had two chances to retake the lead late in the half, but both
Summer England's and Brewah's shot sailed wide of the goal to send the match into the half tied at 1-1.
SECOND HALF:Â The Broncos had two chances to take the lead in the early minutes of the new stanza, but Estrada made two saves of the CPP's shot on goal attempts. Stan State took the 2-1 lead when
Sabrina Cabrera scored off a ball from Brewah in the 64
th minute. Two minutes later, the Broncos had a chance to tie the match at 2-2 when Estrada stopped Allyssa Larkin's shot on goal attempt. The Warriors had two chances to double their lead in the 74
th minute when
Daisy Martinez had both of her shot attempts blocked by the Bronco defense. Stan State sealed the win in the 75
th minute when Cabrera scored another goal off another assist from Brewah. Stan State's defense held the Broncos without a shot attempt in the final minutes as the Warriors took the 3-1 victory.

BACK TO THE TOURNAMENT:Â With the win today, Stan State moved into a tie for first place in the CCAA with Sonoma State. The Warriors also clinched a spot in the CCAA Championship Tournament. The top six teams at the end of the regular season on October 27 will receive berths to the CCAA Tournament. The top two seeds are Sonoma State and Stan State which are tied for first with 20 points. Five teams are vying for the final four spots in Cal State Los Angeles (19 points), Chico State (18 points), Cal State San Marcos (16 points), Cal Poly Pomona (16 points) and Cal Poly Humboldt (16 points) with one match left in the regular season.

LAST GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON: Stan State will host Cal State East Bay this Thursday, October 27 at 11:30pm in its final match of the regular season. The CCAA Championship Tournament will commence with the First Round on Sunday, October 30 at the higher seeds' sites. The semi-finals and final will take place on November 4 and 6 in Rohnert Park at Sonoma State.
