Stan State to Face Humboldt and Chico State This Week

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State men's soccer team returns to the pitch this Thursday and Sunday, October 6 and 9 for a pair of CCAA games against Cal Poly Humboldt and Chico State.  The Warriors will travel to Arcata, Calif., for a 12:30pm starting match with Humboldt this Thursday, October 6. Stan State returns home on Sunday, October 9 for a 11:30am match with Chico State. 
 
LAST MATCHES:  The Warriors are coming off a 0-1-1 home stand in which they lost 1-0 to SF State on Friday and tied Sonoma State 0-0 on Sunday.  Stan State outshot the Gators 15-8 on Friday with Tyler Tipton recording four shot attempts including two on goal.  Robby Rosas had three saves in goal for the Warriors.  On Sunday, Rosas recorded his fifth shutout and had five saves in goal for the hosts. 
 
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  Stanislaus State is 4-3-4 overall and 1-2-1 in the CCAA after last weekend. The Warriors are tied for ninth place in the CCAA with Sonoma State just one point of sixth place. The top six teams at the end of the regular season receive a bid to the CCAA Championships.  Josh Santillan leads the way with his seven goals, two assists and 16 points.  Alecxander Cuellar is next with three goals, one assist and seven points followed by Finn Hoffmann with two goals, two assists and six points.  Robby Rosas has posted a 0.78 goals against average with five shutouts and a .800 saves percentage.   
 
AMONGST THE NCAA/CCAA LEADERS:  Both Josh Santillan and Robby Rosas are amongst the conference and national leaders.  Santillan is second in points and goals scored and tied for third in game-winning goals in the conference.  He is also 18th in total goals, 23rd in points, 25th in goals per game, 27th in game-winning goals and 30th in points per game. Rosas is tied for second in the CCAA in shutouts while he is tied for fifth in saves percentage, sixth in goals against average and eighth in saves per game and saves percentage.  He is 11th in the nation in shutouts and 33rd in goals against average and saves percentage. 
 
LUMBERJACKS IN REVIEW:  Cal Poly Humboldt is 1-4-6 overall and 0-2-2 in the CCAA after tying No. 7 Cal State Los Angeles 1-1 and losing 1-0 to No. 12 Cal Poly Pomona.  Juan Perez leads the way with his four goals, three assists and seven points followed by Edgar Gonzalez's two goals, two assists and six points.  Dylan Tovani is next on the team with his one goal, four assists and six points.  Three Jacks have scored one goal apiece in Nico Herrera-Land, Alex Lopez, and Ramiro Rosas. Adrian Gallardo has posted a 1.05 goals against average with a .796 saves percentage and 3.5 shutouts. 
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:  Stan State leads the all-time series with the Jacks, 14-4-1.  Humboldt has won three of the last five meetings including last year 2-1 in Turlock as Dayne Sturtevant scored the Warriors' goal.  The last Warrior win was a 3-1 victory in Turlock in 2018. 
 
WILDCATS IN REVIEW:  Chico State is 4-3-4 overall and 1-1-2 in the CCAA after going 0-1-1 last weekend at home.  The Wildcats lost 2-0 to No. 12 Cal Poly Pomona and tied No. 7 Cal State Los Angeles 1-1.  Kristoffer Brown leads the way for Chico with his five goals, two assists and 12 points while Miles Rice has five goals and an assist. Kameron Kascht has a team high three assists.  Luis Albarran has posted a 0.74 goals against average with a .789 saves percentage and four shutouts.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES: The Wildcats leads the all-times series 14-4-2 and have won the last five meetings between the two teams. Chico State defeated the Warriors 1-0 in 2021 with Juan Perez, who currently plays for Humboldt, scoring the Wildcat goal.  The last Stan State win was a 1-0 victory in Chico in 2015.

UP NEXT:  Stan State will travel to Southern California for its final road trip of the 2022 regular season. The Warriors will face No. 4 Cal State Dominguez Hills in Carson, Calif., for a 7pm starting match on Friday, October 14. They will end their road trip on Sunday, October 16 with an 11:30am stating match in Seaside, Calif., against Cal State Monterey Bay.
