CHICO, Calif. – Stanislaus State was able to draw first blood against the Wildcats in a 3-1 victory on the road before their rematch at the Fitz on Friday. The team displayed a better offensive performance this time around with two hitters finishing with double-digit kills.

Macky Morris and
Makenna Carrillo put on an attacking clinic with 21 combined kills in the 3-1 win. Setter
Haley Burdo posted yet another 20+ assist match, leading the team with 24 helping hands to her hitters.Â

Although the Warriors dropped a close opening set 23-25, seven assists from Burdo got Stan State into a rhythm offensively. She would later go on to finish with an impressive seven service aces as well. Morris put down seven early kills in the first set to establish herself as the alpha after a tough game at Sonoma State.Â

The team built a brick wall in the second set, as they ended with four total blocks coming from
Alex Byrd,
Ellison Weaver, and Morris. Six assists from
Eyriana Eatmon in the set helped her end the night with a 14 assist and 12 dig double-double. Stan State went on a seven point run to bring the score to 20-8 and evened the score to 1-1 heading into the third.Â

Carrillo got her footing in the third set with a service ace and a handful of kills to finish with 10 on the evening. The Warriors led by as many as five points before the Wildcats knotted the score 12-12. The visitors finished another close set, this time in the winning column at 25-23.

Another early seven point scoring streak took the Warriors lead to 19-8.
Gabby Rawson's match-high 18 digs helped close things out 25-19 to give the team their 13
th win overall.
