Stan State Sweeps the Chico State Series with a 3-0 Win

TURLOCK – The Warriors managed to tame the Wildcats at Fitzpatrick Arena with a 3-0 sweep to conclude their regular season matches against visiting Chico State. Stanislaus State capped off their Title IX 50thAnniversary/Officials' Appreciation Week match with a well-rounded performance.

Haley Burdo stood out with 19 assists on the night to go with six digs and four service aces to fuel some much needed scoring runs for the Warriors. The revolving door of hitters for the home team was led this time by Ellison Weaver with nine kills and six digs on the night.

Chico State saw their scoring halt at 10-10 in the first set, as the Warriors went on a 6-0 run that included a service ace and kill from Burdo. Ellison Weaver led the attacking effort to go up 25-16 in the opener.

The Wildcats were stunned by a 9-0 start to the second set by Stan State. Though they fought hard to bring the game back within seven points, the Warriors front line of Autumn Kirby, Alex Byrd, Macky Morris, and Natasha Mich all put down kills to take the set victory 25-13.

The final set saw some urgent pushback from Chico State, who led for almost half of the rallies. A seven-point run with Makenna Carrillo at the service line helped whip the Warriors back into shape with back-to-back aces. Stanislaus would go on to end things in Turlock at 25-16 to go undefeated against the Wildcats for the week. Head Coach Lauren Flowers on the Warriors' effort, "I was really proud of the team in how coachable they were with making the adjustments we needed. Offensively, Ana (Eatmon) and Haley deserve a lot of credit in how they distributed the ball."

Next on the list for Warrior volleyball will be a trip to Dominican University tomorrow night for a 7pm match against the 0-16 Penguins.
