WARRIORS IN REVIEW: Stan State took two tough losses in their first road trip to Nampa, Idaho for back-to-back games against Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington. Makayla Jackson, Liliana Marques, and Joia Armstrong have led the way on offense in the first two matchups of the year. Jackson is averaging 11.5 ppg, followed by Marques' 9.5 ppg, and Armstrong's 8.5 ppg. The team shot a combined 33.6% from the field, 25.0% from deep, and 61.1% from the line coming into the week. They will host the Warrior Classic this Friday and Saturday against Holy Names and Academy of Art.

LAST WEEK'S GAMES: With a 0-2 record heading into their home opener this weekend, their first game against Northwest Nazarene resulted in a 63-55 final score. Jackson went 5-11 from the field and 1-2 from three to finish the game with 13 points, three assists, and three rebounds. Marques had a solid all-around performance with 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals on 5-7 shooting at the foul line. The Warriors saw their biggest struggles shooting the ball from distance and keeping their turnovers down.

In the 86-62 loss to Central Washington, Stan State had another tough three-point shooting day going 6-21 from behind the arc. However, their bench players stepped up big with 28 combined points when they stepped on the floor. The Warriors also scored 21 of their points off turnovers. Jackson led the team once again with her second straight game in double figures. Iman Addison and Armstrong both denied some shots at the rim to combine for two blocks for the game, while Marques swiped three more steals to add to her seven points and six rebounds. The team cut their turnovers down significantly in their second matchup but didn't have an answer for the Wildcats' 45% shooting from the field in the fourth.

DEFENSE: Stan State is currently converting an average of 20.0 points off turnovers so far this season. They average 8.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. Marques is currently averaging 3.0 steals per game, while Armstrong, Jackson, and Ashmeen Sran each average a steal of their own.

11.5 ASSISTS PER GAME: Marques has been the main facilitator for the Warriors as of late, and the team's main rotational players have shared the ball at a modest clip in the first two games of the season.

HAWKS IN REVIEW: Holy Names also holds an 0-2 record in their opening games of the season, getting knocked off against two CCAA teams in San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay. Sophomore guard Jasmine Soto is currently the Hawks leading scorer, averaging 11.5 ppg and Senior guard Jayden Benitez has put up double-figures in both of Holy Names' matchups in the 2022-23 season. While the team has taken two double-digit losses so far, they have four players averaging double-figures in their first two games.

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Warriors are undefeated against Holy Names since 2007. Last season they took home a 16-point win at home.

URBAN KNIGHTS IN REVIEW: Academy of Art also saw action against San Francisco State and Monterey Bay, going 0-2 in the process. Losing by a much smaller margin than Holy Names, the team was led by Sophomore guard Jadence Clifton and Sophomore forward Alisha Wilson. Efficiency is a factor as Clifton is averaging 19 ppg on 73.3% shooting from the field and 60.0% shooting from three. Wilson is averaging a double-double with 13.0 ppg 11.0 assists.

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Warriors have split the difference in their all-time matchup against the Urban Knights at 3-3 since 2008. A season ago, Stan State got the blowout victory 74-57 at home.

WOLF PACK IN REVIEW: University of Nevada will host an exhibition game on their home court on Sunday afternoon. Their team is also 0-2 in their first games of the season, losing to Saint Mary's and University of the Pacific. The Wolf Pack haven't put out great shooting performances, only averaging 53.1% at the foul line and 35.3% from deep. They have four players averaging double-figures, with Junior guard Gabby Giuffre at the helm. She hasn't missed from beyond the arc in her first two regular season games, going 3-3.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Stan State is 0-2 against UNR in their history since 2017, losing their last matchup 81-60.
