11/29/2022 11:37:00 AM

LAST GAME: Stan State struggled in their first conference game against Chico State, falling 85-70 on the road. The team now sits at 0-1 in the CCAA heading into week two of conference play.

UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: The Warriors split their matchups last week going 1-1 with a 67-60 win over Fresno Pacific on Wednesday and a loss to Chico State on Saturday night. Makayla Rose led her team in scoring for both games, notching a new career-high 23 points and six rebounds over the Sunbirds. She then posted a team-high 22 points against the Wildcats, with a career-high four steals.

AMONGST THE CCAA LEADERS: The Warriors are 4th in team 3-pt field goal percentage in the conference at 32.0%. They are also 4th in both blocks (3.17) and steals (10.50), continuing their pesky defensive focus. Joia Armstrong is a CCAA top-25 performer in scoring, rebounding, free throw percentage, assists, and blocks so far this season. With a handful of teams in the conference still waiting to play their first conference games, the standings are up for grabs for virtually everyone.

SAN MARCOS: The Cougars are 3-1 heading into their first conference game against the Warriors and they are 5th in the conference in field goal percentage at 38.2%. It will be expected to see plenty of three-point attempts from this San Marcos team, who have connected on an average of 8.5 shots from downtown in their first four games. Redshirt Senior guard Kelsey Forrester leads the team in scoring at 14.0 ppg on 40.4% shooting from the field and an 87.5% clip at the foul line.

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Warriors are 6-4 against the Cougars since 2016, but lost their only matchup last season 80-70.

CAL STATE LA: The Golden Eagles are 2-2 so far this season, having yet to play a conference game this year. They have two players averaging 13 points or more per game in Sophomore guard Lily Buggs and Junior guard Nicole Flennaugh. Despite their scoring leaders, the team's shooting percentages aren't great. However, they are solid on the boards, averaging 45.0 rebounds per game. They also do a solid job defensively, denying 4.5 shots per game.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Stan State is a close 14-13 against the Golden Eagles since 2008. Their last win was back in 2018 where they secured 66-54 at home.
