Stan State Can't Pull Off Their Final Home Match vs. #19 Cal State LA

TURLOCK, Calif. – In a concerted effort to bring their Senior Day matchup home with an upset victory, the Warriors couldn't manage to get any momentum rolling.

Stanislaus State had trouble getting things going offensively against the high-volume hitting Golden Eagles team. The Warriors however, kept Cal State LA honest in the opening rallies with some well-rounded hitting from their starters. The Golden Eagles then strung together five straight points midway through the set that carried them through the opener. Macky Morris, Alex Byrd, and Cassie Corbett would do what they could offensively to keep a comeback alive but would drop the first set 18-25.

Corbett and Faith Menary, who would lead the team with eight kills, got the offense off to a solid start in the second set. The Warriors led by as many as four points by the halfway point before Cal State LA answered back with a late nine-point run to take a 23-19 lead. Eyriana Eatmon responded with back-to-back service aces to tie things up at 23-23 and would finish the match with 10 assists to lead the Warriors. Despite her efforts, two final blows from the Golden Eagles settled the set at 25-23.

A slow start for the Warriors had them down 1-7 early in the third set. The home team relied on some timely Cal State LA errors to help will them back to within five points. Bella Isaia once again led the team at libero with 14 digs and three assists. Unable to respond to a very confident Golden Eagles squad down the stretch, Stan State would end the match on a 19-25 final score.

With postseason hopes still alive, tie-breaking decisions with San Francisco State could be determined by W-L history and point-differentials for playoff seeding. If the Warriors sneak into CCAA tournament play, their next match will be Thursday, Nov. 10th at San Marcos.
