ARCATA, Calif. – All twelve Warriors on the active roster were in action for their second road game of the week against Cal Poly Humboldt. In a concerted effort, the team was unable to keep on pace with the Lumberjacks throughout 40 minutes of play.
FIRST QUARTER: After losing a key starter in
Joia Armstrong in the opening minutes of the first period due to injury, the Warriors were forced to find scoring and an inside presence from elsewhere.
Lavinia Moa and
Iman Addison stepped in immediately and went to work in the paint to combine for 12 points in the game and nine rebounds.
SECOND QUARTER: Solid shooting and stout defensive efforts from Humboldt put Stan State down 10-28 heading into the second quarter. The Warriors went nearly three minutes without a field goal, but found production from the foul line, going 6 for 8 from the stripe in the period.
THIRD QUARTER: Trailing 21-38 to start the second half,
Makayla Rose,
Ashley Lewis, and
Da'Myiah Lewis helped chip in some points in an attempt to keep the team afloat. Unable to get enough open looks to go, the team found themselves in a 23-point deficit to end the quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: Rose would see most of her shot attempts find the hole late in the second half, as she finished with nine points and seven rebounds. But a poor shooting night ended the team's hopes in a 52-77 final score.
UP NEXT: The Warriors see a change of pace before the holiday break, playing on the road against UC Santa Barbara on Thursday night Dec. 16
th at 7pm.
