Warriors Unable to Pull Off the Upset in Exhibition at UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Stan State hit the road once again for their first stop this week to face the Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara in an exhibition matchup.

Makayla Rose and Da'Myiah Lewis led the team with double figures in scoring, collaborating for 22 points on the evening and 10 combined rebounds.

FIRST QUARTER: The Warriors stayed within reach of the Gauchos for the entirety of the first period. Lavinia Moa and Lewis got things going at the rim early on, while Rose was responsible for the team's last eight points heading into the second quarter with the score firm at 14-22.

SECOND QUARTER: Foul trouble and the turnover bug made it tough for the visiting Warriors to keep things tight before halftime, as the Gauchos knocked down 85.7% of their free throws to extend their lead.

THIRD QUARTER: Liliana Marques got going in the second half from both the three-point line and the charity stripe to finish with eight points on 5-6 shooting from the line. Ashley Lewis and Alexis Woodson chipped in some buckets of their own on offense, managing to outscore the Gauchos in the third quarter alone 17-13.

FOURTH QUARTER: Still down entering the fourth period, Stan State's bench players got active in the paint, with points from Ashmeen Sran and Iman Addison in the final minutes of play. Unable to close the gap however, the Warriors were unable to pull out the exhibition victory on the road.

UP NEXT:  The team remains on the road for Saturday's game against Seattle Pacific on Nov. 19th at 2pm.
