Warriors Change the Pace with Non-Conference Play Before the Holidays

12/12/2022 2:23:00 PM

LAST GAME: The Warriors were handed a road loss to Cal Poly Humboldt in their most recent game.

UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS: Unable to secure wins last week, the team is now 3-7 overall and are still looking for their first conference win.

AMONGST THE CCAA LEADERS: The Warriors offensive slump has bumped them down the conference standings, but they are still the third best team in steals per game (11.00). The Warriors are also 3rd in offensive rebounding at 16.5 per contest as Liliana Marques and Joia Armstrong remain in the top-25 in rebounds per game. Marques is also 9th in the CCAA in free-throw percentage (69.2%). Armstrong, Lyric Richardson, and Iman Addison have remained in the top-25 for shot blockers in the conference as well.

UC SANTA BARBARA: The Gauchos have a record of 5-3 for the year, having yet to play any Big West rivals this season. They are led by their Senior guard Alexis Tucker, averaging 13.9 ppg on 40.0% shooting from the field and 83.3% efficiency at the line. Junior guard Alyssa Marin has also done her part offensively, averaging 10.9 ppg while shooting 42.9% behind the arc. UCSB is an all-around solid team offensively but are only averaging a +3.0-point differential against their opponents so far this season.

ALL-TIME SERIES: This will be Stan State's first encounter with the Gauchos in program history. Being an exhibition game, it will not count towards either team's official record.

SEATTLE PACIFIC: The Falcons have gone 4-3 on the year with 5th year guard Ashley Atler leading the way with 15.6 ppg. SPU is a solid shooting team from the field at 40.6%, but struggle from deep (31.2%) and at the line (66.0%). They are currently 1-1 in PacWest play as well.

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Warriors pulled off the victory against the Falcons last year 57-55 in their lone matchup, as Taylor Pilot knocked down two go ahead free-throws to ice the game a season ago.
