TURLOCK, Calif. – The Warriors had a tough time keeping on pace with the Golden Eagles of Cal State LA in a tough Saturday afternoon home loss.
FIRST QUARTER: The home team started the game staying within arm's reach of the Golden Eagles early on, but after ten straight unanswered points from Cal State LA, the Warriors found themselves down 13-27 at the end of the quarter. Stanislaus State went five minutes without a bucket until a final possession jumper from
Alexis Woodson.
SECOND QUARTER: Makayla Rose once again led the team in points with 21 on the day, eight of which came in the second period. Consistent three-point shooting from the Golden Eagles however, helped balloon their lead to as much as 23 in the quarter. A key steal from
Maya Gorman and a scoring run from
Liliana Marques would leave the home team down 31-49 at the half.
THIRD QUARTER: Marques would take a bigger role in scoring during the start of the second half and later go on to finish with 12 points on 4 of 7 shooting. However, Cal State LA would maintain their sizeable lead at 47-70 heading into the final quarter of regulation.
FOURTH QUARTER: Iman Addison and
Joia Armstrong started to catch a groove in the paint in the final quarter, combining for 15 points on the day. Ball security made it tough for the Warriors to maintain any solid possession on offense, losing the ball 23 times as a team. They would end the game outscored 68-89.
UP NEXT: The next game for Stan State takes place on the road at UC Santa Barbara, where the team will play an exhibition match on Thursday night at 7pm. They will head to Seattle Pacific on Saturday afternoon at 1pm to play the Falcons on the road.
