Warriors Begin Road Trip with Loss at Sonoma State

ROHNERT PARK, Calif.---  Sonoma State used a 19-2 run mid-way through the first half to key the Seawolves' 80-46 win over the visiting Stan State Warriors.  Baljot Sahi paced the Warriors with nine points while Mahda Fallay added eight points.

FIRST HALF: A Noel Alexander Jr. lay-up off a pass from Benno Zecic gave the Warriors a 10-8 lead seven minutes into the game.  Sonoma State (3-7, 2-2 CCAA) held Stan State scoreless for the next ten minutes until Mahda Fallay's free throws stopped the run.  The Seawolves built a 29-12 lead during those ten minutes. A three-pointer by Damian Wallace increased the hosts' lead to 34-12 with a little over a minute left in the half.  A jumper by Fallay made it 34-14 Sonoma State heading into the locker room at the half.

SECOND HALF:  A three by Kobe Ordonio off a pass from Zecic and a jumper by Will Pallesi cut the Seawolf lead to 34-19 just two minutes into the new stanza.  In the next five minutes, Sonoma State held the Warriors scoreless and built a 33-19 lead.  An Isaiah Jones' three off a pass from Zecic stopped the Seawolf run to make the score 53-22 with 12:20 left in the game.  Sonoma State increased its lead to 76-44 with four minutes to go as the hosts cruised to an 80-46 victory.

SEASON HIGHS:  Baljot Sahi and Mahda Fallay each scored their season highs this evening for Stan State (3-7, 1-3 CCAA). Sahi scored nine points as he went three-for-six from three-point land.  Fallay scored eight points with his two made field goals and his four-for-four from the charity stripe. Micah Boone grabbed a season high four rebounds and scored his first points as a Warrior.

UP NEXT:  Stan State will continue its four-game road trip this Saturday, December 10 with a 7:30pm scheduled tip-off with Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata, Calif.  After Saturday's game, the Warriors will have two exhibition games to end the 2022 calendar year.  Stan State will be in Stockton on Tuesday, December 13 for a 6pm exhibition game with the University of Pacific.  The Warriors will finish off their 2022 calendar year with a 6pm exhibition game at Sacramento State on Wednesday, December 28.  Stan State will return to CCAA play on Sunday, January 1 hosting Chico State at 3pm.
