LOS ANGELES — The Stanislaus State baseball team scored seven runs in the first three innings of Friday's series opener, so host Cal State LA doubled that in Sunday's series finale, scoring 14 runs by the third to earn a series split with a 15-2 California Collegiate Athletic Association win at Reeder Field.
Â
Like each of the first three games of the series, Stanislaus State (4-5, 2-2 CCAA) scored first again on Sunday. The Warriors took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on three singles in the inning.
Danny Murphy drove home
Alex Solis with a two-out RBI knock to put them ahead. Murphy and Solis would connect again in the fourth for Stan State's only other run, with Murphy driving Solis home on a sacrifice fly.

Cal State LA (7-7, 2-2 CCAA) exploded for eight runs in the second and six in the third. Eight of the Golden Eagles' first nine batters in the second inning reached base – the only one not reaching being a sac bunt to move the first two into scoring position. CSULA had five hits in the inning, including a two-run double from Hayden Luff that made it 6-1 at the time. The Golden Eagles also collected four free passes (two walks, two hit-by-pitches).
Â
Already up 8-1, Cal State LA went to work again in the very next inning. Five of its first six batters reached base, four of them on base hits. It was Michael Rosales hitting a two-run double this inning, with Luff tacking on a second RBI hit in as many at-bats. Five more hits in the inning and another free base runner (hit-by-pitch), and it was 14-1 Cal State LA.
Â
Christian Casados (2-0) earned the win with four innings of shutout relief. He struck out two and only allowed one hit while facing just one batter over the minimum.
