SAN BERNARDINO — Host Cal State San Bernardino avenged a series-opening loss on Friday with two big wins over the Stanislaus State baseball team on Saturday, beating the Warriors, 14-6 and 18-9 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader sweep at Fiscalini Field.
The Coyotes (12-9, 8-3 CCAA) used a huge nine-run bottom of the eighth in game one to turn a one-run game into a 10-run advantage heading into the ninth. They struck for runs in six of the seven innings played in the night cap, including four frames of scoring three runs or more.
Stanislaus State (7-9, 5-6 CCAA) posted its own big inning in game two, scoring six runs in the top of the seventh – highlighted by a grand slam from
Ryan Leonesio.
