Toros Walk to Series Split in Sunday Victory over Warriors

TURLOCK — The Cal State Dominguez Hills offense awoke again on Sunday after being shut down on Saturday, as the Toros earned a split in the California Collegiate Athletic Association series between them and the Stanislaus State baseball team with a 10-2 win in Sunday's series finale at Warrior Field.

The Toros (10-8, 5-3 CCAA) scored 10 runs on 11 hits Sunday after only mustering two total runs on 10 total hits across two games on Saturday. They took advantage of 15 free base runners (14 walks, one hit batter) and still left 16 runners on base despite scoring 10 runs. CSUDH's top-five hitters went a combined 8 for 17 (.471) with 11 walks drawn, 10 runs scored and seven RBIs.

Stanislaus State (6-7, 4-4 CCAA) used seven pitchers on Sunday. Tony Cortez was the most efficient of them all, throwing three shutout innings and striking out four while not allowing a run and only giving up one hit. Grant Bunker had the Warriors' lone RBI in the game, homering to center field in the bottom of the first inning.
